Review: I picked up my bottle of Moscatel Finished Bourbon after the Oregon Whiskey Festival in Bend in 2022. Seemed a little funny to buy a Washington Bourbon following dozens of delicious Oregon Whiskies but I was too intrigued by the finish to pass it up. I do not love every finished whiskey I have had but Port finished bourbons do tend to be near the top of my favorites list. This Moscatel finish offers light fruit notes and a sweetness that reminds me of port. The whiskey drinks lighter than the 100 proof would lead you to believe and the flavors are full and robust.

My Rating: Sip it. Not a cheap whiskey but worth checking out.

May the miles you hike be filled with wonder and the glasses you raise be filled with whiskey.

Cheers!

Rating scale:

-Spit: Don’t bother with this one. If a friend gives you a dram of it, are they even your friend?

-Shoot: Good enough to get you drunk.

-Sip: Tasty enough to enjoy neat or on the rocks.

-Stock: I’d recommend keeping a bottle on hand.
