Review: In full discloser The Glenrothes Vintage Reserve is no longer available. My understanding is it is closest to The Glenrothes Bourbon Cask as the Vintage Reserve is largely comprised of ex-bourbon barrel single malts. I picked up my first bottle of the Vintage Reserve because it was on sale and I thought the bottle looked cool. I was family with Scotch at this point in my whiskey journey but had not purchased a bottle of Speyside Scotch until The Glenrothes. Upon opening it with some of my Bourbon loving friends we were surprised with how sweet and fruity the whiskey was. It had some green apple and malt notes similar to Irish Whiskies we were familiar with but with more honey and hay present. Since I picked up that first bottle, I have always had a bottle of The Glenrothes on my shelf and it is one I will frequently offer to my friends who have not yet gotten into Scotches. It’s inexpensive price and approachable flavors mean it should have a home in your bar as well. Cheers!

My Rating: Stock it!

May the miles you hike be filled with wonder and the glasses you raise be filled with whiskey.

Cheers!

Rating scale:

-Spit: Don’t bother with this one. If a friend gives you a dram of it, are they even your friend?

-Shoot: Good enough to get you drunk.

-Sip: Tasty enough to enjoy neat or on the rocks.

-Stock: I’d recommend keeping a bottle on hand.
