Review: Quartz Mountain is a family run business only a few miles from my home in Vancouver Washington. Their offerings range from clear spirits like vodkas and gins to barrel finished whiskies. Their 3 grain wheated Cask Strength Bourbon offers deep rich flavors and drinks like something much lower proof than its 110.2 proof. Their cask strength offerings do vary as far as mash bill and proof point but so far this Barrel 4 has been my favorite of the few cask strengths I’ve tried from them. Their flavored Vodkas and flavored “Shines” are some of the best smelling and tasting on the market and I always get a wonderful nose on their whiskies.

Only a few years old I really look forward to some of their products as they continue to age and the company continues to grow. Although I do like to support local business, I prefer to support business that makes a great product. Quartz Mountain does both in my book. It’s nice to have a local distiller that is making great products and looking to branch out into different cask finishes.

My Rating: Stock it if you can find it. A great price for a rich cask strength whiskey.

May the miles you hike be filled with wonder and the glasses you raise be filled with whiskey.

Cheers!

Rating scale:

-Spit: Don’t bother with this one. If a friend gives you a dram of it, are they even your friend?

-Shoot: Good enough to get you drunk.

-Sip: Tasty enough to enjoy neat or on the rocks.

-Stock: I’d recommend keeping a bottle on hand.
