Review: Rio from Penelope had been on my radar for nearly a year thanks to its presence on TikTok. I was really curious to see what this exotic wood from Brazil had to offer the world of whiskey. Because of this, when a friend from Arizona offered to get me a bottle, I jumped at the chance.

Although it is a pricey pour it is a fun bottle to open up and have friends see what kind of notes they experience. Most everyone gets the initial sweetness and cinnamon but I’ve heard everything from honeysuckle to wet leather. If you are into sweet and finished whiskies this one may be worth adding to your collection. Cheers!
