Review: I remember the first bottle I picked up of Pendleton’s 1910 Rye shortly after it launched. I was very new in my whiskey journey and I picked up a bottle for a coworker who was leaving the company. I had cut my teeth on the sweet and easy Pendleton Canadian whiskey and did not know the difference between that and a true “Rye”. When me and my coworker cracked open the bottle, we were both pretty disappointed at how “spicy & harsh” it was in comparison.

A decade later and I decided to complete my Pendleton Lineup by purchasing another bottle I was greatly relieved to open it up and immediately fall in love with the whiskey. The nose is surprisingly dense for an 80 proof and although it is obviously a rye, it has sweet and buttery notes on the taste. For a 12 year old 100% Canadian Rye I can not think of a better value in Rye whiskies for only $43 in my area. Cheers!

My Rating: Stock it if you are a fan of the Ryes.

May the miles you hike be filled with wonder and the glasses you raise be filled with whiskey.

Cheers!

Rating scale:

-Spit: Don’t bother with this one. If a friend gives you a dram of it, are they even your friend?

-Shoot: Good enough to get you drunk.

-Sip: Tasty enough to enjoy neat or on the rocks.

-Stock: I’d recommend keeping a bottle on hand.
