Review:

I am typically not a fan of distilleries that are not very transparent. Sourcing is not something I look down upon, in fact I like to see what different producers can do with the same initial spirit. That all goes out the window when it comes to Michter’s American. I can’t find much in the way of a mash bill nor how long its aged and to be honest, I don’t care. This whiskey is sweet and approachable without being boring and bland. It really makes me wish that more distilleries would do more with used oak. The sweet caramel and icing are balanced nicely with the slight oak flavors. The 83.4 proof goes does easy but somehow does not seem watered down.

My Rating: Stock it! It’s getting harder and harder to find in my area but I try to always have a bottle on hand.

May the miles you hike be filled with wonder and the glasses you raise be filled with whiskey.

Cheers!

Rating scale:

-Spit: Don’t bother with this one. If a friend gives you a dram of it, are they even your friend?

-Shoot: Good enough to get you drunk.

-Sip: Tasty enough to enjoy neat or on the rocks.

-Stock: I’d recommend keeping a bottle on hand.
