Review:

Comprised of 12-year-old triple cask Joseph Magnus Bourbon as 11 and 18 year old Bourbons. They are then finished in Armagnac casks which add a wonderful deep and rich fruit flavor. Master Blender Nancy Fraley has done a wonderful job blending these bourbons together. The nose is deep and complex and I was initially worried that maybe the flavor would not match up to what the nose was delivering. I was very wrong. Although it is a bit higher in proof it does not drink “hot”. The flavors are complex without being overwhelming. Even at $200 a bottle in my area, it will be a bottle I pick up any time I see a new release.

My Rating: Stock it! Yes, even at $200 a bottle this is a value whiskey.

May the miles you hike be filled with wonder and the glasses you raise be filled with whiskey.

Cheers!

Rating scale:

-Spit: Don’t bother with this one. If a friend gives you a dram of it, are they even your friend?

-Shoot: Good enough to get you drunk.

-Sip: Tasty enough to enjoy neat or on the rocks.

-Stock: I’d recommend keeping a bottle on hand.

It may be obvious but the Magnus Cigar Blend pairs quite nicely with this Padron 1926 Cigar
