Bulleit Bourbon “Frontier Whiskey” is a Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey that claims to be distilled and aged in the Bulleit Family Tradition. I do not have any notes from the original 1830’s recipe from Augustus Bulleit but I can tell you that Augustus’ great-great grandson has produced a fantastic high rye bourbon. At a decent price and with bold enough flavor and proof to stand up well in a cocktail it is worth having a bottle on hand. The distinctive “Old West” style bottle harkens back to companies roots in the 1800’s and grabs the eye while still spotlighting the whiskey inside.
My Rating: Stock it!
At around $30 in my area this is worth keeping on hand. Just enough proof and character to not get lost in a cocktail or served on ice while still being easy to enjoy neat.
Rating scale:
-Spit: Don’t bother with this one. If a friend gives you a dram of it, are they even your friend?
-Shoot: Good enough to get you drunk.
-Sip: Tasty enough to enjoy neat or on the rocks.
-Stock: I’d recommend keeping a bottle on hand.
May the miles you hike be filled with wonder and the glasses you raise be filled with whiskey.
Cheers!
