Review:
Some of my favorite bourbons are born from Buffalo Trace mash bill #1. Whiskies like Buffalo Trace, Eagle Rare and George T. Stagg all start their life as this new make. I was excited to come across this bottle of White Dog to see what kind of notes are added by the barrel aging process and white flavors continue on despite aging. I was surprised how much spice and burnt sugar notes were present on a spirit that had never been aged in wood. I have yet to try it head-to-head with an Eagle Rare or Buffalo Trace but I look forward to seeing what the aging process does to the new make over time. Cheers.
My Rating: Stock it. At $18 its worth comparing to the finished products to learn what the aging process can do.
May the miles you hike be filled with wonder and the glasses you raise be filled with whiskey.
Cheers!
Rating scale:

-Shoot: Good enough to get you drunk.
-Sip: Tasty enough to enjoy neat or on the rocks.
-Stock: I’d recommend keeping a bottle on hand.
