Review:

As a long time quilt users I was becoming fed up with the drafts I would get from rolling around so much at night. I move around a lot when I sleep and often backpack in windy areas. Because of this I was waking up a lot to tuck the quilt back underneath me despite using pad straps or buckling the quilt closed. The Cloud 800 weighs twice as much as my 20 degree quilt but the fact that it has a sleeve that keeps it attached to my pad and no zipper which makes it easy to toss and turn or vent if you get too hot. Because I often use 25” wide pads I ordered a size large is much longer than I need but has the added benefit of allowing my to shimmy down all the way to the foot end when it is very cold out. This allows me to be completely covered while still venting to reduce condensation. There is a vent at the foot end that can be accessed simply by raising your knees and poking your feet out to cool off. The back of the sleeping bag is not insulated to save weight so make sure you trust your sleeping pads R value for the temps you are expecting.

My Rating: Buy it! It is the best sleeping bag/quilt I have used. It covers a large temperature range and stays on your pad!

Rating scale:

-Bypass: This isn’t worth the money.

-Borrow: Handy but may or may not be worth your money.

-Buy: Get one. You’ll love it!

May the miles you hike be filled with wonder and the glasses you raise be filled with whiskey.

Cheers!
