Review: Being someone who backpacks in the west typically means you need to always at least be thinking about large predators. Thankfully in the areas I frequent that means Black Bears which are usually skittish and Cougars who are usually scarce. Not that this 2.15” long blade would do anything against any large predator but having it constantly around my neck while hiking at least makes me sleep better at night. It is much more likely to be used to open a dehydrated meal or cut some cheese but it is always at the ready in case of a 4 or 2 legged predator. At 2.15 ounces and only $25 I say it is worth having this or at least some sort of knife at the ready just in case of danger, or cheese.
My Rating: Buy it. Worth the small weight and cost to sleep a little better at night.
Rating scale:
-Bypass: This isn’t worth the money.
-Borrow: Handy but may or may not be worth your money.
-Buy: Get one. You’ll love it!
May the miles you hike be filled with wonder and the glasses you raise be filled with whiskey.
Cheers!
