Review: I have used Cnoc water carry products ever since I saw the first Vecto water bag protype on Darwin On The Trail’s YouTube channel. I loved the idea of a collapsible water carrying device that could have a filter easily attached and could sit comfortably on the outside of my pack when I needed to carry additional water. However, I typically hike in the Pacific Northwest where it is not uncommon to come across a water source every few miles and I often found myself only using the 2 liter Vecto water bag to fill my smart water bottles. I decided to try and lighten my load by picking up a Katadyn BeFree water filter and a 1L Cnoc Vesica to see how it worked out. I still carry at least one smart water bottle as I do like to drink water quickly and like a container that I can add an electrolyte or additive to when it taste funny or I need a boost. The Vesica seems to hit that sweet spot of extra storage capacity while packing down small when not in use. It is fairly lightweight and fits nicely in my side pockets of my backpack. So far the only drawback I have is it does not easily slide into the water bottle pouch on my packs but there is a special pouch available from Chicken Tramper Ultralight Gear that is suppose to remedy that issue. So far it has not been an issue as I keep at least 1 smart water bottle with me. That being said I will likely pickup a CTUG pouch for my day pack so I can take just the one Vesica bottle with me on shorter day trips. Overall I am happy with the Vesica and love that it is from a company in my backyard of Portland Oregon and helps reduce the amount of single use plastic that are used by hikers and backpackers world wide. Cheers.
