Review: You’re Going on a Hike is a unique finished bourbon from Black Rock Spirits. Aged and finished in Caldwell Idaho, this whiskey is distilled in Lawrencberg Indiana (MGP). The first year of the aging process is spent in new American oak. For the next 100 days it is aged using local cherry and apple tree branches which are charred. It could by psychosomatic but I do get hints of apple and cherry but more like bbq and less like the fresh fruit. The whiskey itself is a high wheat bourbon with 45% wheat. Because of this it is a very light and enjoyable whiskey but a bit on the spendy side likely due to the unique finishing process.
My Rating: Sip it. A unique but young product.
May the miles you hike be filled with wonder and the glasses you raise be filled with whiskey.
Cheers!
