Review: Quartz Mountain is the closest distillery to me in Vancouver Washington. They produce small batch Washington spirits. This means the majority (if not all for Quartz Mountain) of the grains used are sourced from Washington farms. This PX Sherry finished Bourbon is a 4 grain mash, which is not typically my jam, but the additional sweetness helps balance the typically savory leather and earth notes I find in Quartz Mountain products. The nose is alive with bright sweetness and fruit notes and the palate retains its dark and rich characteristics. Although plenty flavorful it drinks lighter than the 97 proof would lead you to believe. If you are a fan of finished whiskies this one may be worth checking out. Cheers!

My Rating: Sip it!

May the miles you hike be filled with wonder and the glasses you raise be filled with whiskey.

Cheers!

Rating scale:

-Spit: Don’t bother with this one. If a friend gives you a dram of it, are they even your friend?

-Shoot: Good enough to get you drunk.

-Sip: Tasty enough to enjoy neat or on the rocks.

-Stock: I’d recommend keeping a bottle on hand.
