Review: My wife convinced me to pick up this $50 while at a liquor store in Oregon. She felt the bottle fit my aesthetic and was intrigued to try something from Montana. Upon closer inspection it turns out the 2 year old bourbon inside the very cool stainless steel bottle is likely from MGP (distilled in Indiana) but according to all the press info the whiskey is aged, blended and bottled in Montana. I cracked the bottle open with a number of friends and after taking an initial whiff I handed it to a few people to tell me what they smelled before I said anything. 2 other people said it smelled like kerosene. Perhaps that has something to do with the bottle itself and thankfully none of that astringent nose shows up on the taste. It is a very traditional bourbon but low proof and unremarkable. It does look neat on my shelf or in my backpack but that does not warrant the $50 price tag in my opinion. Cheers!

My Rating: Shoot. It’s a fine bourbon but not worth the price tag.

May the miles you hike be filled with wonder and the glasses you raise be filled with whiskey.

Cheers!

Rating scale:

-Spit: Don’t bother with this one. If a friend gives you a dram of it, are they even your friend?

-Shoot: Good enough to get you drunk.

-Sip: Tasty enough to enjoy neat or on the rocks.

-Stock: I’d recommend keeping a bottle on hand.
