Review:
Jefferson’s Ocean Voyage 24 is unique amongst the Ocean lineup as it was aged solely in the Caribbean. This means higher average temps during the ocean aging process. It could very well be psychosomatic or because I was drinking a lot of it in Florida where everything smells vaguely of coconut, but I swear I get rum and raisin notes on this bourbon. The first sip I had was back at home in Oregon before I flew down to Florida and even there the first thing that came to mind upon tasting it was heavily buttered cinnamon raisin bread which is a tasting note I have never tasted before. As rum is my second favorite spirit, I really enjoyed those “tropical” flavors.
I have been on the Jefferson’s Ocean aged trail since I first tried Voyage 16 in 2018. This is the first release since then that I can confidently say I will be picking up more bottles of. I bought one in Oregon and another in Florida just so I knew I would have more waiting for me when I returned home. I will be picking up more bottles as I have a feeling that many samples of this will be shared. Cheers!
My Rating: Stock it! Yes, even at $90 MSRP I will be picking up multiple bottles due to its Cinnamon Raising Bread notes.
May the miles you hike be filled with wonder and the glasses you raise be filled with whiskey.
Cheers!
Rating scale:
-Spit: Don’t bother with this one. If a friend gives you a dram of it, are they even your friend?
-Shoot: Good enough to get you drunk.
-Sip: Tasty enough to enjoy neat or on the rocks.
-Stock: I’d recommend keeping a bottle on hand.
