Review: I first heard of Found North on Instagram and figured it would likely either not be released in my area or move so fast I would never find a bottle. Only a week later a local liquor store posted a bottle of Batch 2 on their Instagram and I hurried down and picked up a bottle.
Full disclosure, it was Canadian Whisky that got me into whiskey. I cut my teeth on Pendleton and fell in love with the sweet maple notes it offered. Eventually I moved onto scotch and then bourbon. I feel like Canadian Whisky gets a bad wrap for being easy to drink but boring and only tasting of maple. Enter Found North. Found North finds and blends various Canadian whiskies and imports them into the US. The flavor is not only bold but complex. The traditional maple notes are still there but so are hay, green apple and butterscotch. It is very rare that I enjoy a whiskey more than 12 years old but this is one worth seeking out. I have yet to try any of their other batches and perhaps I love this one as much as I do since it uses a nearly bourbon mash bill but I have a feeling they have many more excellent offerings to come. Cheers!
My Rating: Stock it if you can find it.
May the miles you hike be filled with wonder and the glasses you raise be filled with whiskey.
Cheers!
Rating scale:

-Shoot: Good enough to get you drunk.
-Sip: Tasty enough to enjoy neat or on the rocks.
-Stock: I’d recommend keeping a bottle on hand.
