Review:

Ezra brooks Genuine Kentucky Sour Mash comes in a suspiciously familiar square bottle with black and white writing. The high corn mash bill is distilled and the filtered through a charcoal mellowing process. Sounds an awful lot like the Lincoln County process. Because all of this takes place in Kentucky this is labeled a Sour Mash Bourbon, also because it meets all of the legal requirements of bourbon (just like Jack Daniel’s). This sub $16 bottle packs a mellow and sweet flavor without seeming too young. It does not have an age statement which means legally it must be at least 4 years old. It does have some youth on the taste but it does not taste young. The palate offers traditional bourbon notes like vanilla and oak as well as fresh ripe fruit like apples and apricots. As far as budget bourbons go this one may be one of the best. Cheers!

My Rating: Stock. A great budget pour!

May the miles you hike be filled with wonder and the glasses you raise be filled with whiskey.

Cheers!

Rating scale:

-Spit: Don’t bother with this one. If a friend gives you a dram of it, are they even your friend?

-Shoot: Good enough to get you drunk.

-Sip: Tasty enough to enjoy neat or on the rocks.

-Stock: I’d recommend keeping a bottle on hand.
