Review:
Silverstar Mountain from the Grouse Vista trailhead is the most accessible trailhead to reach the top of Silverstar Mountain but it is also one of the steepest. The climb begins in earnest and only occasionally will flatten out enough for you to catch your breath and take in the views of what is up ahead. I hear the views of the Cascade Range are unmatched. The day I chose to hike it in August of 2024 while 2 wildfires burned nearby which caused my view to be completely obstructed. The rocky top does give 360 views but bring a jacket as it is typically windy and much cooler than the trail.
The trail is a nice combination of rock, almost scree at times, and a nice soft duff like trail. Bring your trekking poles to save your knees on the way down and expect it to take a little longer than you may think. Cheers!
Rating: Bring a friend (when the views are good)
Rating Guide:
-Gram it: Check out the pictures on Instagram because this one is not worth seeing in person.
-Hike it: It’s short and sweet. Might as well knock it out in a day.
-Bag it: Pack a bag and spend the night.
-Bring a friend: Easy enough to bring a friend. Maybe this is where you can introduce someone to backpacking.
-Come Back: I will keep doing this trip it is so good!
