Review: Admittedly I did not hike the full loop trail that goes up to the overlook. But I did hike down to the base and then downstream to the “ghost town” and park before hiking back up to the bridge and parking lot. Latourell falls is a less often traveled waterfall in the Columbia River Gorge and has wonderful access to its base where you can enjoy being blasted by the freeing cold mist as it comes off the falls. The hike begins in the parking lot and can either head uphill to the overlook or downhill toward the base of the falls and then across the bridge and further down to the park area which has picnic tables and a grassy area under the trees to relax. You can explore the small “ghost town” and return up the road to the parking lot or backtrack up the creek toward the base of the falls, the way you came down. The hike is typically accessible all year although it can often be cold or rainy so dress appropriately. Cheers!

Rating Guide:
-Gram it: Check out the pictures on Instagram because this one is not worth seeing in person.
-Hike it: It’s short and sweet. Might as well knock it out in a day.
-Bag it: Pack a bag and spend the night.
-Bring a friend: Easy enough to bring a friend. Maybe this is where you can introduce someone to backpacking.
-Come Back: I will keep doing this trip it is so good!
