Review: I have used my Zpacks Duplex trekking pole tent for a number of years now and love how it provides a lightweight water proof option. However it is rather large as it can sleep 2 people and it is a bit heavy when compared to a tarp at 19 ounces. I picked up the Zpacks Pocket Tarp and a Bathtub Ground Sheet to have a great rain resistant option for those ultralight overnight trips. Then I remembered I hate bugs and am a bit worried about snakes making their way into my tent. Because of this I did not use the tarp for quite some time. Eventually I had a handful of weekends where the temps were low and the bugs were gone so I tossed it in my pack and tried it out. Setup is fairly simple and I have yet to have it in a rain storm but I am confident the design (assuming I set it up correctly) would keep me plenty dry. Everything packs down small and there is no tent on the market lighter than the tarp and floor combo. All that being said I wish I would have waited and just spent the extra money and 3.5oz to get the solplex one man tent. It is more expensive but the bug net is already there and the setup seems easier as it is all one piece rather than a floor that needs attaching. On the plus side I have a fantastic floor for cowboy camping and something that will stuff down small if I ever get around to that bikepacking trip. Cheers!
