Notes:

*****Sadly this meal has been discontinued. If you come across it online or in a store, I highly recommend you pick it up.***

I am a big fan of freeze-dried breakfasts on shorter trips when I don’t have to worry about breaking down camp quickly in order to get on trails. I tend to be sluggish in the morning so being able to boil water and add it to a bag while I drink a cup of coffee is high on my list. I find that freeze dried egg-based breakfasts often end up a bit watery and although many companies have created delicious biscuits and gravy options for breakfast, I find they often tend to leave me feeling tired after eating them. When I came across the Spicy Southwest Style Skillet I was a little unsure about a nontraditional breakfast but decided to give it a try. I was very please with how good it was out of the bag. Over time I learned that adding a dash of my favorite Secret Aardvark hot sauce upped the flavor immensely. If there is more than one person in camp, I will bring a couple tortillas and a pouch of Mountain House Bacon and Eggs for some easy and tasty trail breakfast burritos. As of the 1-4-22 writing of this review they are not listed on the mountainhouse.com website but they are available in store and on Amazon.com still. If you like a hot and easy breakfast on trail I highly recommend the Mountain House Spicy Southwest Skillet.

May the miles you hike be filled with wonder and the glasses your raise be filled with whiskey. Cheers!
