Review: I have become fairly friendly with the folks at Quartz Mountain Distillers as they are less than 2 miles from my home in Vancouver, WA. They have some great offerings including wonderful Gins and lots of flavored Vodkas. As they are only a few years old, having started in 2020, their bourbons are just now starting to come of age. Although I am not a huge fan of their 4 grain offerings, this maple finished bourbon from them is fantastic. If you are expecting an IHOP breakfast experience like a lot of other “maple finished” bourbons, this is not it. The maple is subtle and comes on the very end of the pallet but lingers for a wonderfully long time. The initial nose and taste are very classic bourbon and honestly if I didn’t know it was finished in Maple Syrup Casks I may not pick out the maple note as it can show up as a generic sweetness. Overall, the price and proof make me want to always have a bottle of this around for when I’m craving something on the sweeter side. Cheers!

My Rating: Stock it. A great whiskey especially for something made so close to my home.

May the miles you hike be filled with wonder and the glasses you raise be filled with whiskey.

Cheers!

Rating scale:

-Spit: Don’t bother with this one. If a friend gives you a dram of it, are they even your friend?

-Shoot: Good enough to get you drunk.

-Sip: Tasty enough to enjoy neat or on the rocks.

-Stock: I’d recommend keeping a bottle on hand.
