Review: I have been a big fan of Jefferson’s Ocean products ever since I tried my first bottle of Voyage 16 all those years again. Since Voyage 16 there have only been a handful of Voyages that felt like they were worth their $90 plus price tags. Although I’ve only had a few pours from this Voyage 27 I do fear it will fall into the not worth it category. Although it is 119.8 proof it somehow drinks much hotter and seems to be a bit simple as far as flavor goes. The nose has a lot of ethanol to get through to find some nice sweet and grassy notes but it seems lackluster when compared to a bottle of Elijah Craig Barrel Proof that is half the price. I’m sure I will continue to buy Jefferson’s Ocean Aged Voyages in search of finding one that is good as the Voyage 16 I fell in love with years ago. Cheers!
My Rating: Shoot it. Maybe it was the single barrel I got but no where near worth the money.
May the miles you hike be filled with wonder and the glasses you raise be filled with whiskey.
Cheers!
Rating scale:
-Spit: Don’t bother with this one. If a friend gives you a dram of it, are they even your friend?
-Shoot: Good enough to get you drunk.
-Sip: Tasty enough to enjoy neat or on the rocks.
-Stock: I’d recommend keeping a bottle on hand.
