Review:

Although I typically prefer a sourced whiskey to do something interesting with the aging or finishing process, I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed this offering from Broken Top Whiskey in Sisters Oregon. I purchased the bottle on sale for only $45 and was not expecting much due to its slightly high proof but young age. The heavy butterscotch on the nose and creamy caramel on the taste really impressed me. It does not drink as hot as the 113 proof would lead you to believe and it taste much more complex than the 2 year age statement would have you think. It is a great higher proof whiskey for the price. I dare say its up there or possibly above Rare Breed Bourbon from Wild Turkey for me.

My Rating:

Stock it! It is a great pour for the price and makes for a wonderful cocktail.

May the miles you hike be filled with wonder and the glasses you raise be filled with whiskey.

Cheers!

Rating scale:

-Spit: Don’t bother with this one. If a friend gives you a dram of it, are they even your friend?

-Shoot: Good enough to get you drunk.

-Sip: Tasty enough to enjoy neat or on the rocks.

-Stock: I’d recommend keeping a bottle on hand.
