Review: Barrell has been on my wish list for quite some time. When I began to see reviews come out for batch 033 that said it was very tasty, and add the fact that 33 is my favorite number and it only seemed right for me to pick some up.

This Cask Strength offering comes in at 116.6 proof and does give a bit of a Kentucky hug but I would not say that it drinks like its 116 proof. The flavor is very sweet and is complimented by the oak characteristics. The youngest whiskey in the blend is 5 years old and other barrels are 6, 7 and 9 years old.

This is a very good bourbon and makes for a fantastic cocktail as it can stand up in even the sweetest old fashioned. It is a bit on the pricey side at around $80-$100 and that is why it gets the rating it does. Cheers!

My Rating: Sip it. If it was a little cheaper or older it would likely get a higher rating.

May the miles you hike be filled with wonder and the glasses you raise be filled with whiskey.

Cheers!

Rating scale:

-Spit: Don’t bother with this one. If a friend gives you a dram of it, are they even your friend?

-Shoot: Good enough to get you drunk.

-Sip: Tasty enough to enjoy neat or on the rocks.

-Stock: I’d recommend keeping a bottle on hand.
